Allow for proposals to be sent without a fixed amount - due to unclear or vague job specs
At the moment a lot of jobs on PPH are rapidly posted or posted by clients or users who don't have a clear understand of what they need.
That said it makes it near impossible for anyone to realistically provide a real or accurate proposal instead of just low balling a client to get them to respond which turns off talented freelancers from trying to apply in the first place. It also mismanages client expectations as they assume they can get that shinny new Uber clone for £100.
What I would propose is that on top of the clarification board you implement:
- Questionnaire and checklist for the clients to follow when posting jobs.
- To allow freelancers to submit a proposal without a specified amount or to allow freelancers to submit a proposal with something like:
Hourly rate starting at X or fixed rate on projects starting at X so the client can get an idea of what kind or rates they would be paying with the Freelancer should they wish to engage in further conversation but it allows the freelancer to then define a detailed proposal only after understanding the project fully.
Elance did this beautifully in the past by allowing freelancers to submit a detailed proposal with questions without having to specify a specific amount due to the requirements now being clearly defined.
Cheers,
-
