No PPH Mobile App - The Impact
I just sent this to PPH Customer Support:
Hi there,
I have just begun using PPH, and have been kicking myself that I didn't find it sooner! I've been using Upwork - hasn't led to any work, and Fiverr - good site but low pay rates. PPH leaves those others far behind in terms of the ease of use, job postings, and pay scales.
I set up my profile this afternoon, uploaded a portfolio, and left for dinner. When I returned, I happened to notice that I had a message waiting. It was an invitation for a job, and it was only by chance that I spotted it.
Then I explored some and discovered that there is no PPH mobile app - or there used to be one, and it was discontinued because the website had been optimized.
I consider that a severe limitation of the PPH system.
Fiverr and Upwork both have a mobile app. Here's how those are EXTREMELY beneficial in conducting business:
1) If I get a notification, it will not only make a sound, but it will leave a banner on my iPhone to let me know I have received something. I don't have to leave a browser open on my computer (which I put to sleep when I'm not at it), or leave the browser open on my iPhone (which I don't always do).
2) If I'm out of the office and I get a notification, I can then conveniently message with a client from the mobile app, and conduct business just as if I was at my desktop computer. It's super easy to use, and keeps my response rates very high.
Without those features, my use of PPH is significantly limited.
I hope you will reconsider your position on the deployment of a mobile app for PPH.
Cheers,
Dan

Followup:
I have a feeling the response to my inquiry is going to be "We'll pass this along to the developers."
Here are more thoughts which I'd like to pass along to the developers.
In this mobile world, a browser based solution is back level technology.
Here's how that philosophy sounds to the users:
"The PPH developers have determined that the PPH users don't need a mobile app, because Windows 7 is good enough."
I'd rather see the focus on what the users want, rather than what the developers have determined. I've seen this before, where the programmers decide what they think the users need, and there's a disconnect.
Would the person from PPH Customer Support who responds to this post, please pass along to me the response of the developers? I'd like to follow up with this issue to see if any action is contemplated.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi,
I am using PPH from past a year but there is much problem in communication due lack of mobile application, at least you guys should implement push notification so we can be notified on mobile and desktop as soon as message arrive.
Implementing push notification is a simple task, i will be happy to help if needed.

A followup.
I have been messaging with a Buyer on PPH. I receive notifications through emails, after 15 to 20 minutes.
On Fiverr and Upwork, I receive those same notifications instantly through their Mobile Apps.
As a practical matter, waiting on the PPH notifications makes me function under a significant time lag.

Hello everyone
I am PPH user since 2010 and noticed that PPH isnt moving in sync with time.
I have worked with over 70 clients on PPH and have earned more then 25k GBP, here are my views:
1) I loose clients because PPH doesnt have a quick notification system and by the time i get emails its already 20 mins and hence i loose the jobs.
2) PPH doesnt have a mobile app so i can see the revert to the client interations
3) PPH responsive platform isnt build correctly and hence on a mobile device there are a lot of areas that i just can see.
4) Sometiimes PPH dashboard just doesnt load.
Please improve on these PPH i still get a lot of projects from you guys and would love to stick around with you.

I'm not sure what your issue is finding the app, I'm using it right now. However, oddly enough, the app does not have push notifications. You have to be directly in front of your computer or the app at all times. Push notifications would boost the sites potential, ease of use, and overall effectiveness by 800% If I am using the site and happen to switch windows on my computer, or if I am out on my mobile and I do any number of things with my phone, I will never be alerted to the message. When I do get the notification hours later, the other party has already logged off and gone to bed :(
Good luck with finding the app, but once you get it you will see what I am talking about. These guys need to add Push Notifications ASAP, its the only logical step from here.

@Dan,
This is definitely a mobile app, referencing the need to be in front of my computer (sometimes there is a chime) but for the app there is nothing. I was just thinking that this may be a seller vs buyer issue, but the app I have is a mini version of the site. Full functionality is definitely limited to the device but it is great for communication, until you navigate away from the conversation, open a different app, or merely set down the phone (no push notes).
I wonder if you have an "icommunicator" as it may not be on iTunes or whichever marketplace they use, but I have the PPH app on my android phone. Could this be the case?
In any event, these are my thoughts on the app I have:
Push notifications are more than a mere aesthetic. Of all of the apps on my phone, I wish none but my email to send push notes. All communication apps are multiplied in effect by the adoption of push notes. Whereas email is not task specific with regards to the nature of the communication, the messaging system here on PPH is crucial for workflow management; this is further complicated by the fact that most work is going on internationally and time zones need to be adhered to. In the US, I have a lot of work going on in India and we are nearly half a day apart. If a contractor is available at a time where I am actually at work (not staying up later than is advisable to get a project done) it would be highly beneficial to get a push notification that either my counterpart is online or, at a minimum, he/she has sent me a message.
This would seem to be directly in-line with the interests of PPH as you work so hard to prevent outside communication, for purposes of liability but also functionality, and it is much more advantageous to use alt contact via an app that uses push notes just to know when someone is ready for input. This post ignores that it is nearly backwards in the market to offer this as a mere amenity though in our case it is a crucially required tool. I would assume as it would expedite work it should show a quick and noteworthy presence in PPH profit margins.
Think on it, better-yet act on it.
Warm Regards,
Glyph

Thanks for your feedback, Glyph. No app on iTunes. Here's an earlier thread where PPH responds and confirms that there is no mobile app:

Yessss, Mobile app STAT! I am a full time VO artist and also maintain a handful of other creative positions though I may have to terminate my account which I believe will be successful with PPH if there isn't a mobile app that helps enable my efficiency and productivity.
Here's to wishful thinking:-)
