REMOTE location in projects - This has got to change!!!
The use of the term REMOTE in project postings is not working.
It's fine in many industries, e.g. software development, which can be done anywhere in the world.
But I'm a photographer, and up to 80% of jobs for photography are actually location-specific yet listed as REMOTE with no explanatory text as to where the job actually has to take place.
Typically, project owners provide information like ... "My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary; would like to capture a few memories" ... BUT WHERE PLEASE?
This is an international site, and the DEFAULT location should be where the project owner is based. Then, as part of the process of posting a project the site should pose the question. "Does this work have to be done at or near your location?" And if the answer is "Yes" then that is the location that should appear in the project. Then the site should ask the project owner, "Up to what distance from where you are based could this work be done?" And that distance should appear in the project header, i.e. "Up to n miles / kms from location."
If the answer is "No", the site should then ask the project owner, "Can this job be done anywhere or only within a certain area / country?" If the answer is "Anywhere" then, AND ONLY THEN, should the word REMOTE appear in the project header. Otherwise, specify the locations - which could be a country, a continent, specifically exclude one or more countries.
For example some of my photography post-processing work can't be done in the USA (because of copyright laws), and some can't be done in Islamic countries (because of nudity), but straightforward clipping path work on product pack-shots can be done anywhere.
This site hasn't got this element of the job right yet, by a very long way. Oh well, back to fr******er.com where I can be VERY specific.
Come on, PPH. This is a good site, let down by lack of common sense.

THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AND I FEEL THAT WHAT I SAID NINETEEN MONTHS AGO HAS NEVER EVEN BEEN CONSIDERED BY PPH MANAGEMENT.
As for Kelly's "Official comment" I have to assume that for "official comment" we should read, "Oh well, that's another one we can put into the shredder and totally ignore."
Frankly if I was employing a freelancing site on a project, and had the choice of PPH and Fr******er.com I can assure you, PPH management, that I would ignore any proposal you sent as totally insincere.
NOW GET THIS CHANGED! I pay you 24% commission on jobs I get here, (and only 10% commission on Fr******er, I***u, and none on T***e).
I think I am entitled to expect PPH to get it right at that commission fee level. If I was leaving a Google review on PPH I'd struggle to give you 2 out of 5 at present.
