Website notifications

I'm using PPH for about a year or so and I've always missed a good notification mechanism. I'd like to share a few thoughts about this.

The main problem is that I don't want to stay in front of my computer whole day waiting for someone to respond to my proposals. There is a sound notification which is a bit harsh for my taste :) but it doesn't work if I leave the chat open. I used to do another trick - leaving another tab opened so I can hear when my customer replies. It worked just fine for some time, then one day I noticed that there is a login timeout and I've been logged out. Now I can't rely on that too.

When I'm out of my office it's even worse. I have to constantly check my phone for new emails.

I realize that building a mobile application for such a site could be a big and time consuming project, but probably just a messaging application wouldn't be that big task. Or as I saw it's already proposed - push notifications.

Many thanks for your suggestion. I will pass it on to our product team.

The website is already mobile and tablet friendly meaning that you can use it whilst you are out and about, there is no need for a mobile app.

I think an app would be very beneficial - even though it is mobile and tablet friendly, it is not very user friendly in my opinion - I think some sort of instant messaging app at the very least would be great; especially when it comes to proposals.

My point exactly. How can one rely on instant notifications on a website that logs you out in some time.
