Are you happy to pay 10% deposit fees ? Please vote, comment.

Edit : July 14th 2017 : After complaining about the 10% , PPH created a new farce to breakdown the 10% fee as follows: 5% + £0.6 transaction fee + 5% service fee.
Result : Bank transfer was free now you should pay 5%

Hello there.
I did not read through all of the above comments.
BUT I was close to accept a proposal for 400 GBP BUT when just before I accepted the payment, there was an extra 40 GBP added to the price as a buyers commision or whatever the name was.
THIS is not acceptable. Especially, when I know the seller also pays for this so what can you do ???Per

I agree that this is very poorly managed by PPH - there is no mention of these fees during the process, you are only made aware of this once you are making final payment. There is also no input and support regarding the most cost effective way of managing this payment in order to minimise the "buyers fee"

My clients had no idea this was happening until they checked their bank accounts when doing their accounts this year. A few have now suspended all work through PPH and are going back to in-house designers. So not only am I being charged ridiculous rates with the new service fee structure, I am also losing current clients.

The new fees are ridiculous. I have lost clients who refuse to pay the high rates. I have had to increase the cost of my hourlies to make a profit. If, as I would suspect, PPH is trying to have people bid higher, then they should put a minimum on what a person can bid (which they have done).
Also, I have noted that there is now a cost to dispute a bill. REALLY? That is the guarantee that you offer? If your client does not pay or refuses the invoice pay us and we will then choose who gets the funds.
This is not how business should be conducted. You must take care of your workers or your site will go downhill and fast. I know of at least 10 buyers who have jumped ship due to the fees and the dispute costs.
You need to fix this and fast.

Im going to lodge a complaint this completely wrong trading standard:

Hi
Just noticed this too. I have used PPH before and i'm disappointed with the new fee structure. I think it is worth pointing two facts:
- surcharges for electronic or card payments are illegal since february this year (https://www.businesscompanion.info/en/quick-guides/pricing-and-payment/payment-surcharges)
- hidding fees in the terms and condition is in violation with the Consumer Right Act, revision 2015 (https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act under unfair contract terms). You can't just change the price after the customer accepted an offer, this is against basic commercial sense.
this is just not acceptable. They must refund us all, or we should contact trading standards.

I'm really disappointed by this fee; I had thought it was just a 10% charge on deposits only as part of the escrow service, not realising buyers are charged it for the entire value of the project.
And it's completely absurd; it means sellers have no idea what they're actually charging their buyers, and buyers don't know what they're actually being asked to pay until they attempt to pay it.
Absolutely nothing justifies doing it, not when sellers are also gouged for fees on their end as well.
I as a seller don't mind paying fees to do business on PPH, that's just a cost I have to factor into my prices, but charging buyers as well as utterly hostile to all parties.

I've too have just found out that a "Buyers Fee" of £0.60 + 10% is added prior to making payment - the fee only appears once you start entering the credit card number.

There is no reference to the Buyers Fee anywhere on the website, except in the terms and conditions. It's very misleading and underhand.
Unfortunately the project preparation is too far advanced to find an alternative, but it's unlikely we'll be using the service again.
