Policy on Academic Assignments
Dear PPH Team,
I have been working here since 2013 on and off, and full-time during career transition. I originally came from an academic background where I worked as a faculty at a graduate program.
There is a tendency among student to use freelancing platforms for academic work (homework, research, projects, and even exams) that they are supposed to do on their own. There is, however, a minor provision to seek guidance and review of the work (which differs from getting it completely done by someone else).
I love PeoplePerHour in the way it differentiates itself from other platforms which are flooded with student assignments.
However, I have recently seen a few postings related to academic work, posted as jobs on PPH. I went to PPH terms to find out any guidance on our policy on academic work.
It would be great to define policies and ink them down in our terms. I can volunteer to draft those if PPH is facing a staff shortage (as has been noted in various Community Posts).
Having said that, I reported a few jobs that were suspected to be against the academic honesty norms. PPH team was kind enough to remove those jobs. However, it would be nice to have policies in black and white.
Together we make this platform better.
Cheers,
Shahbaz Ahmed, MS

Hi PPH,
I strongly join the request of Shahbaz Ahmed. I do not come across it too often in PPH as in other freelancing platforms but it is existing. Here is a live example:
The buyer had no problem including a Word document which starts with the following text: "The end-of-semester valuation exercise is an Excel file that includes the items described below."
This job was posted 19 hours ago. Your moderation process definitely failed to capture this case which I'm also about to officially report shortly after submitting this message.
PPH should add Community Guidelines referencing the rules on academic work (exams, assignments, essays), just like it is done in other freelancing platforms. This is for example how it is shown in Fiverr, you can simply copy-paste it and rephrase:
https://help.fiverr.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020869658-Academic-and-workplace-dishonesty-on-Fiverr
PPH T&C which were last updated almost 3 years ago mention no exclusions about academic work and the fact I was able to find this post via Google search is saying it all. I think it's time for you to update the T&C against academic cheating.
I'm writing on behalf of all decent students out there who never even consider cheating of any sort as a possible action to undertake while attending higher education.
