Poor Platform Marketing
Hi everyone,
I'm a self-taught Video Editor/Graphic Designer who's trying to hop on work opportunities on PPH. But the reality that I have attracted 0 clients through the latest 6 months.
I'm not convinced that I should be the one who brings customers to the platforms because I'm a huge introvert who can't do a proper sales pitch plus if I could why would I sign up here in the first place? Also, as much as I understand that I can feature my offers/proposals. I have never encountered a successful seller who paid for ads as a beginner (they usually are trying to expand an existing freelance business). Plus I can't make transactions with my local currency because Tunisia heavily restricted converting currency.
What depresses me more is that the most convenient way to get my first client, that is proposals, is full with low-tier telegram scams or with unprofessional ads like "looking for a video editor, fixed price $13".
Please, it's not my job to take care of this platform. I'm not even getting paid for that.

I understand your frustration to some extent. I am assuming you are new. If that is the case, then it is very hard to get started and it does take a touch of luck in the fact that someone takes a punt on using you. I remember when I signed up over 10 years ago, it took around months to get my first client. Then my second took a while and from there it gathered momentum.
However, the platform has hit a rocky patch in the last few months. Even top-rated sellers like myself are seeing a downturn in sales. Keep going. It all takes time.

If you work in graphic design then is a competitive niche so your portfolio has to be original and your proposal has to stand out. If not, then you make it nearly impossible to get any orders. When I started I had to undersell my services (for a good few years) to build a rating. Freelancer sites will not provide instant success.
