Must I pay to bid on a project as a freelancer?

Greetings!

I am new to this site. When I want to bid on a project I will see "Deposit". Must I pay a certain fee to bid on a project?

Read it properly. You enter your proposal - the total amount in the top box. The bottom box is the deposit YOU WANT the buyer to pay. It's generally about half the full amount - or three quarters if it's a small job. PPH sometimes advises of a minimum amount when you put a figure in there.
