Hi Drew, you can do this by going onto the freelancers profile and clicking 'Contact'. Then select 'Invite to a job', select 'New Job' and then type in your job details for this freelancer. You can then go on to each individual profile of the freelancers you like, click 'Contact', 'Invite to job' and select the job you have just created.

If I do this, does that mean no one else can see the project or that they cannot send a proposal. I would like to keep the details of the project private and only the people I invite can see them

does that mean no one else can see the project

Everyone can see the project. It's been pointed out to PPH many times, yet they do nothing about this.

or that they cannot send a proposal.

    That's correct.

So how do I know if my own job is private or public?

A private job has a lock next to it.

Once a job is awarded the workstream between buyer and seller is always private.

But public has a lock next to it

And private looks like its open for all to see - on the job form?

I too do not wish everyone to see my job posts!

I fully agree - PPH needs to act on this, otherwise for some projects I will be forced to contact my preferred sellers outside of PPH!

hello, I agree with you guys… I thought a private job was a private job… This is more like a public-private job because everybody can see that you have a job that no one else can get except for the person you invited.

I made the mistake of putting some login credentials into my job posting… Do you guys have any suggestions on how to remove this data from my private job posting? Thanks for any suggestions.

I just got caught out with the private job instructions!

A freelancer did a great job for me and I wanted him to do more work for me.

I followed the instructions above and sent him (only) an invitation.

Next I got an acceptance message and I automatically clicked on accept from my end.

THEN, I realised that it was a different person accepting the job!!

Ok, silly me for not double checking the name but I thought this was a private project!!!

But clearly a different public person can put an offer in so you need to double check the name!!!

I'm really annoyed with myself but also PeoplePerHour for saying this can be done - it cant!

I will take 'Paul's' advice and kick up a mighty fuss!

Marianne, when I do repeat work for some of my PPH clients they usually message me on the message stream for the job I last did for them.

Then we just agree in the stream how much it will cost, deposit etc. Then we can either do the work as a continuation of the previous job, or create a new job and accept me for that.

I think you published a non-private job because these (public) private jobs can only be accepted by someone who has had an invitation.

I hope it works out. PPH has ignored the public access of private jobs for years and they cut off our general forum where we could discuss PPH.

    Good luck.

    Thank for this Paul :-)

I only invited one person for the job.

This website can be a bit confusing.

I am new here and just on my first project offer.

I  have been googling to try to find some answers and that is how I found these messages here.

I am very happy with the graphic artist that did the work for me and want to continue with him.

I've sent an email about all this to PPH.  I might just have to put this loss down to learning by experience!

Thanks for answering so quickly.  I wish PPH would answer as quickly ;-)

    Cheers,  Marianne

Marianne, if you didn't post the job as a private job, then anyone can make a proposal without needing an invitation. If the job is private, then nobody can make a proposal without an invite. If you're happy to tell us the job number, I'll have a look.
