New system aimed primarily at matching newer sellers with buyers
So now it seems I have to wait two hours before I can bid for a job. This is extremely unfair. Not only do experienced creatives/designers have to compete with an unfair playing field, ie people offered to do a job for £10 when it is clearly worth £100, we are now not allowed to bid for jobs as soon as they appear on PPH. What kind of system is this?!
Awful. Unfair. Unprofessional. Discriminatory.

Its unlikely to be credit card payment related.
The history of payment problems (e.g. our suddenly being required to provide proof of identity before receiving even small payments) seems to indicate that PPH has simply not got to grips with compliance with money laundering laws so that is the most likely problem. My guess is that for some reason your account has been flagged for manual review of transactions. It does happen: there is one VPS (virtual private server) provider I cannot use because their payment system turns down my cards. I do not know what, and I suspect you will have a hard time finding out - it could be a change in the pattern of your work, a few buyers that look dodgy, anything in your behaviour on the site or how you connect to it. It could be worse, one guy was raided by the police for trying to view a non-existent page on a website with an unusual web browser.

It's just reminded me of the court case against Nigella Lawson's assistants:
"The sisters' alleged fraud was discovered in June last year, because of an unauthorised hiring of a minicar, and because spending on the cards went up from £10-20,000 per month to around £50,000."
"Francesca spent £580,000 without authorisation and Elisabetta, 41, spent £105,000."
"Charles Saatchi's accountant admits increasing limit on aide's credit card to £100,000"
So, you may be well under the radar, Deb!

So today's pointless message, which I'm already bloody sick of seeing on every workstream:
Attention! On-site work will soon get more volume even for work that can be done remotely e.g. web design & development, copywriting etc. If you don’t want to miss out on the increasing demand for on-site work on PPH it is absolutely necessary to update your Profile including your postcode.
The expression WTF comes to mind......
-
Yes, you'll not be able to work on-site if you don't specify location and distance for travel.
That'll stop those Karachi commuters.. ..and anyone else who can't be bothered to comply.
I have loads of spare proposal credits left, so to motivate me PPH give me 45 more. Why don't they properly analyse their data?
-
Well as I have no intention of ever working on site I won't lose any sleep over it :) I too received my free 45 proposal credits yesterday despite only using 3 last month and they have SO motivated me to get into the bidding cattle market and fight for those $2 for 500 word jobs I'm missing out on......

Deb,
You sent 1 message less than 24 hours ago, and i dont see how we are ignoring you. Your last email was on the 24th of February and you had direct contact with Panos. Security checks actually do exist and they are there to provide a balanced and secure system for all our users, sometimes these checks may be completed in minutes and sometimes we require more time as is stated in our Terms and Condition's which you have agreed to. Pano is looking into your query as we speak. I appreciate your patience.
Thank you.

It was refreshing for some time to see the brief flowering of PPh engagement on this thread (some time ago now), but so many other threads just go totally ignored.
I read the recent Blog post "How To Build An Outsourced Marketing Team To Rival Red Bull" and the section on "The Voice" just doesn't seem to tally with what I see with PPH in practice.
You guys may disagree, but I was glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that section.
I did make a comment on the blog, but it's fallen by the wayside.

Michael and Pilar, I'm really disappointed to see how PPH handles people who express criticism of the company. Not publishing my post to the blog - well OK.
..but now I discover that not only is my reply unpublished, you guys have silently blocked me from seeing other posts on that blog that follow the time I left a comment.
I'd hope that one day you guys can operate transparently and above-board and not do these things behind people's backs. I'm really disappointed and I really do wish you were the people that you say others should be in your blog post.
-
Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear about your disappointment. I handle the blog and just to reassure you I personally have not blocked anyone who is not spam related especially you so i'm not sure why that is happening. Can you see any of the posts at all?
Just one look at the comments and you'll see both positive and negative comments present. I do note however that I have not been as active on this particular thread recently but i'm definitely on the forums and social media replying to as many comments as I can. I'm sure you can appreciate we get a huge amount a day so I don't get round to everything but I do keep an eye on all conversations. I will ensure to look into this for you as we value your contribution Paul and want you to be present on the blog. Thanks for reading it :-)

Hi Pilar,
I have now refreshed the page and now I see eight posts not three and it agrees with someone else's view of the blog. I'm sure it's not a coincidence and I thank you.
I've never really understood why PPH doesn't respond to the daily posts on these community threads - there are several but it should be easily manageable. Then perhaps PPH community handling would have more resonance with the blog post.
As a casual visitor glancing through the community forums my current impression would not be positive and the only reason that would persist is that the forums give the impression that PPH just does not respond to it's community. For all I know many of those issues on the community forums have been dealt with, but the impression is that those users have been abandoned.
Thank you Pilar.

I have made some proposals recently and sometimes I wonder what (if anything) is happening with the project I made a proposal for. Sometimes I just can't find these proposals again in my workstream. If I search jobs, I can then find the proposal.
Seems to me that something may be broken. I'm sure I didn't have this problem in the past.
