    Hi Simon,

Thanks for your comments. Please note that when we ask for extra information it is part of our fraud prevention for the benefit of our whole community. We did not attend for this to be a cause for concern for you but i hope you understand that prevention is better than cure.

    Many Thanks

    Hi Pilar,

    Thanks for responding.

I don't see how it's preventing fraud. Can you please explain to me

how it prevents fraud (please provide examples and references

    where applicable).

Also, why don't you inform people beforehand? Why spring it on

them as a surprise? Isn't effective communication part of a harmonious

    community?

What if a client tries to pay me, but can't. There's a risk I might not get paid.

Why can't you ask for extra info at the point of registration so that I can be

confident? No freelancer wants to work with prospect of not getting paid

because you've created this extra hurdle. I can't afford to be paid

    late.

What guarantees can you give me that this latest project I'm working

won't become a major headache? I need the money before Christmas.

I have many more questions. I'm seriously doubting the logic

    of this policy.

    Best wishes

    Simon

    Hi Pilar,

    I have an update:

Can you please refer to support ticket : #380687

I've just messaged Panos to explain. The confusion came about

    from my client (See message).

I understand where you're coming from and my confidence

    has been restored.

    Thank you.

    Best wishes

    Simon

I agree the fuss required just to get paid is a joke. They need to take a leaf out of FIverr.com's book which is so easy. Get paid by paypal & download payment. Simple as that.

    Hi there,

I've been waiting well over a week to get paid now and i really don't understand why? I've raised a support ticket which has simply been ignored. I have a couple of large projects coming up, all discussed with the clients but I'm hesitating to send proposals purely because i'm not confident that PeoplePerHour will release payments to me!

I need some kind of answer. Money is being held that belongs to me and i cannot access it. What is the point in making proposals and doing work then i'm not going to get paid for. I've been trying to find a phone number to ring, there isn't one, all i can do is vent on here and send support tickets and get no reply back. Seriously considering not using this platform anymore which will be a shame because as Simon stated, its a very good one!

I hope i can get some kind of answer soon.

I feel your pain, I really like the way PPH is built, don't get me wrong it´s far from perfect, it sure needs more work specially improvements to protect the sellers from abuse.

I already asked PPH what fraud are they preventing exactly, never got any reply to that.
But what I find odd is that PPH only takes this precautions when the Seller is about to get paid but never when the project starts (and the escrow get´s filled).

If PPH wants to run some verifications, fine! but do it before the seller completed the work. Better yet, do it as a mid step before approving a Brief to go live, That would be awesome, that would accomplish allot of things (a) that fraud prevention PPH wants to do (b) Discourage users of abusing sellers (c) Sellers would feel more protected by PPH.

The way PPH does now seems like PPH haves no fear of scams when they are getting the money into the Escrow, the fears only show up when the seller is about to get the money. So what happens if the Buyer decides not to send their documentation? the Sellers doesn't get paid? PPH keeps the money? the Buyer gets the money back and the work done?

I actually have a workstream that was blocked soon after the buyer approved my invoice (and after about 2-3 weeks of solid work with a 5 start feedback). I wonder if this as anything to do with this late "fraud checks".

Hi I'm completely with you on this. I have only had one job completed and went to raise an invoice and didn't realise I was going to have to upload sensitive imformation to complete strangers, and am wondereing whether to stay on this site. It doesn't make sense to me as the customer won't pay you if you don't provide the work, so you can't be defrauding anyone even if your real name is Mickey Mouse. This has upset me a lot as I didn't think it would be this difficult.

this is still going on....i read this thread thinking it was recent only to find that its dated almost a year ago!

I joined pph and everything was fine, My first job went without a hitch and payment was made (including all transfers)within days, my second job again went fine yet my payment too over a week to arrive. My 3rd job it was over two weeks till I received my money. Every subsequent job has taken longer and longer, its now taking almost a month for payments to get from escrow to my bank/paypal account. My latest one was point blank refused....noone told me why...until id spent 3 days sending repeated tickets...the response was that I needed to verify my account, I sent all documents yet I kept being asked for ones you already had (because like the tickets) the contents of emails also get ignored.

I have now sent all the documents you asked for multiple times, I have also been told by pph that my account is now verified and my money will be released....

But it hasn't. its still pending and I have received no notifications or messages to say my account is verified.
Not that verification seems to make a difference anyway because most buyers don't verify their account/

I also think its disgusting that you withheld my money in the first place. You have no legal right to do that. you basically blackmailed me into providing a service and then my personal identification documents and then withheld the money.

I also find it odd that PPH don't seem to need verification to take the fees from the money
