Buyer Consistently Won't Accept the Proposal We Agreed On and Won't Pay
AnsweredI finished a project for a client on Monday fairly quickly and I have yet to receive the promised payment from him. I have counted at least 3 separate days where he said "he will pay today," in his messages and he never did. It's really frustrating, as I used a program on my computer that I paid for a long time ago (with my own money) to complete his service. I started wondering if he's just playing a game with me or just doesn't want to pay. The email address he gave me to send the requested files to keeps sending me back this message: "Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server," and I have told him about it. Now I wonder if I did all this work for nothing; can anyone help? The work I did for him is not free. I have sent him several messages asking about the payment and now he's refusing to respond at all. I've already sent a request for help to the PPH Customer Support service, and I haven't heard from them, either. I can't raise an invoice on this job because the Buyer won't accept the proposal that has been sitting in the Workstream since Tuesday. What should I do? I am starting to feel like he cheated me into doing something for nothing, when that's not what I agreed to.

Hello Holly,
Im sorry to hear that your having this issue. I am not sure what you mean when you say the buyer has not accepted the proposal? If he has not accepted the proposal then you should not begin any work for another user. The proposal system, when accepted would allow for a deposit to be placed in the escrow of the workstream. PPH Does advise the buyer that they must pay for any work that has been completed.

Thank you for posting this. I'm sorry to hear you had this painful experience.
What I do in those cases where a prospective Buyer (and I say "prospective" Buyer because, to me, until and unless they have paid a deposit and accepted the proposal properly, they are NOT a Buyer) consistently will not accept the proposal is to explain politely to them that standard practice for PPH Sellers is collecting a deposit for a project prior to starting work. Only when a proposal is officially accepted our work will be protected. And it’s only when the Buyer makes a downpayment that my proposal would be accepted.
If this doesn't work I just cancel my proposal after giving the prospective Buyer a reasonable time to either pay the deposit or let me know when they intend to pay the deposit.
Any Buyers who have seen me doing this and don't like it - If you don't like my service please try another Seller or, even better, another site. I am NOT allowing anyone to exploit me. Many thanks.
