Team Projects
As a designer first, and developer second, I sometimes have to outsource development work to more experienced web developers on projects. Equally, developers often get in touch to outsource the design work to me. My go-to developer took up a full-time position within a company last year so I was forced to try and find a new developer to work with. I listed the advert on PPH and received a good response.
However, I think it would be a great idea to create 'team' projects/jobs. When listing a job, you could specify the team members required for the project. For example, a website design and build project could require a copywriter, a web developer and a web designer. When applying, freelancers can specify which team role they are applying for (allowing multiple choices), along with the time they anticipate their part in the project to take. This would provide full transparency to buyers, along with allowing freelancers to work within their field of expertise only.
Obviously, this could get very complicated very quickly. But I think if there was a team workstream, along with individual team member to buyer workstreams, the whole process could remain quite simple. Team project functionality would allow experts in their field to combine for a temporary basis on projects to become a very strong team for buyers, while keeping everybody in the loop. Each team member doesn't need to know how much the others are quoting or even see their proposal, they are just brought in for their individual role.
