The 'You have been selected to bid first ...' thing

I just received notification of a job I could purportedly do via the 'You have been selected first ' route.
I'm sure people get work this way, I have been successful in the past and I used to respond to these all the time. However, last year I experienced a situation where I was looking at a job, having bid and discussed it in depth with the client. I forget the reason why, but we decided not to proceed.
Some hours later I got a notification claiming I had been selected to bid first on that same job. This exposes a flaw in that 'You have been selected to bid first ..' system.

As a result, now, I rarely bother to respond to these messages.

I would rather be able to switch them off at source rather than waste time deleting them from my inbox.
As a side note - I received one today for a job that was only going to pay 10 euros - around £7. . That might represent a fortune worth spending half a day on in some areas of the world but that set price makes it not worth my time here in the UK. It was a waste of my time even looking at it.
