Fault in the 10% refund and disputes policy
So, I have noticed there is a HUGE flaw in the fact that PPH takes 10% of the fee when getting a refund or filing a dispute. As it stands:
- The buyer pays 10% of the refund if granted a refund
- The seller pays 10% of the invoice/refund fee if going to dispute
So, what stops the buyer refusing to pay the invoice EVERY time?
Envisage this situation, which I keep seeing over and over again:
A seller completes the job and the buyer takes the files and is using them. However, the buyer then decides to ask for a refund instead of paying. The seller then has to pay 10% of the refund fee in order to dispute this.
Many times, PPH doesn't know what to do with the dispute so simply splits the money. The seller is out 50% of what they were entitled to, PLUS the 10% dispute fee. The buyer has their refund with no refund fee charged.
Does that sound fair? Absolutely not.
So, this system is massively encouraging dishonest buyers. What is stopping them requesting a refund after every single job? They have ZERO risk by doing it?? They either get all their money back, some of their money back, or they may have to pay the fee but screws over the seller for 10% of it.
It is the most messed up system ever.
I have proposed SO many times, that the person who is at fault of the dispute should be the one who pays the 10% fee. Just like in any legal system, the loser pays the legal fees. If PPH cannot decide who is at fault, the 10% fee is split. That way, this will discourage more and more disputes.
They say they introduced this fee to discourage disputes, but I think all it has done is encourage them more because the buyers are the ones who benefit from it.

Hey Sarra
I don't work for PPH, but I am an active user of this platform, both as a buyer and a seller. I am well aware of the issues involved with the platform, so I am trying to help others who have been wronged.
What exactly happened with Kevin? When you pay PPH the money, it goes into Escrow, so you shouldn't release the funds until you are 100% happy. That way, it protects both parties. However, I can see that you have also left him 5* feedback - so what happened if now you are not happy?
