Re Seller's deposit payment

I have been asked to make a deposit when posting my proposal, I understand that it will be paid back to me via my invoice, but what if I don't get the job? Is this a request from buyer or PPH? Also please let me know if I should deposit the same for each of my proposals?

  If you are a seller you never have to make a deposit. Actually while you posting your proposal you need to ask the client to make deposit.
  If the client want to assign you the job he/she will be asked to make the deposit you requested.
