VAT number

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and wondering if I had to get a VAT number before starting working as a freelancer here? I'm French and have never before worked as a freelance.

  Many thanks for your message.
  You would need to seek legal advice to find out if you would need a VAT number in your country to work freelance. In the UK you would not need a VAT number unless you generate over £60,000 per year. However, I do not know the law around this matter in France.
