Doing a UK job in the US.

I recently delivered my first job on PPH and the client seems most pleased. We agreed on a price before hand, he paid the deposit and after I sent my invoice, he completed the payment.

So now its in my PPH account, my issue now is that I want to transfer his payment of GBP to my American account of USD. 

I saw that to transfer the money, there is a flat $19.99 fee for international transferring. Not really wanting to pay that much. I did see that Paypal will only take 1.9% to transfer the money (but I worry there will be a further fee to get it to from GBP to a US account.)

Has anyone had experience with this? If so, what's the best way to go about it? Or should I simply avoid international jobs?
