In which cases I can withdraw a deposit

My client hired me for filming the event, I have spent half a day for taking the equipment and bringing to my office, setting it up and so on. Night before the event client has emailed me saying event is cancelled now, consequently job is cancelled too. Full amount of the job was £250. Deposit is £150.
What should I do? Can I withdraw the deposit which client has paid me into pph, to my bank account? Or I should cancel the deposit that it would be returned back to the client?

I have lost my time and didn't reserve other shoots for tomorrow...
