Making PPH Better
ID
You already have a system in place to confirm the location of a freelancer (by sending their ID across) so why not emphasise this further? By adding an 'ID Confirmed' option, buyers can select sellers that are 100% who they say they are. This ensures that if they want real people who live, for example, in the UK, then that's what they get. It increases buyer confidence and reduces the chances of unqualified sellers getting work.
Moderation
There needs to be more effort with job moderation. Perhaps higher ranking freelancers with experience on the site can have some power to help with this (they can flag jobs and it notifies the moderation team immediately). This removes jobs like: 'i need logo done for my company, message me your number and email to discuss thanks,". Over time, this will raise the quality of projects and jobs.
Race to the bottom
Some buyers want to pay next to nothing for a top service. The only sellers that will ever take on top projects with a small fee are the ones that provide a terrible service that stops people coming back to PPH. In order to stop these ridiculously low bids, there needs to be restrictions on who can bid for which jobs. For example, if someone has a budget of £250-£500 then only top sellers (ID verified etc) can bid. This stops a job having 8 bids under £50 and one at £300. If anything, it benefits PPH to encourage higher charging, better quality sellers.
Bad quality freelancers
Take a look at these reviews: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.peopleperhour.com . One common theme, other than the exorbitant rates charged, is that the actual freelancers here suck. You need to remove more accounts and ban people more frequently to clean up the site.
-So the trustpilot reviews may not be a good example but if you browse freelancer hotspots like the relevant Reddit subreddits, people do not have good things to say about PPH; Google 'is people per hour good' (common question people may ask)-
Obviously PPH is a business but operating like this is just stupid. High fees for sellers drives people away. Low quality work from bad freelancers drives people away. Sure, PPH makes money but it could be so much bigger and better than it is right now. These are also only a select few changes.

Awful user experience
This is the most hopeless outsourcing site I've used. It's hopeless. How do I get to a job I've posted, and see all the applicants in one place?
I can't stand this site.
What on earth does workstreams mean? why can't i just navigate my to projects / messages / jobs (open/paused/closed)? Can I archive messages?
I don't know how much money i've paid as a deposit, what's been refunded, what's still outstanding...
AWFUL :-(

Just checked out the TrustPilot link. Some of those
reviews are libelous. This site is not a scam. It may not
be perfect, but it definitely is legit. I can honestly
say that it's added a good few grand to my revenue
and I've made some really good connections, some
really genuine clients.
Of course, I feel it could do with some improvements.
Maybe I'll start my own suggestion thread.
Keep up the good work guys.
