There should be an option to accept/reject an awarded job
AnsweredThere should be an option for sellers to accept or reject an awarded job. Recently I had an issue. I sent an proposal to a buyer with all my doubts and asked him for a discussion session so that I can understand his complete requirement. This would help me to be sure whether I can complete the job or not. One cannot discuss the whole project in question board. So I had to place the proposal.
The buyer without replying me anything accepted my proposal and paid the milestone. Then he sent his actual requirement, some of which are out of my skills. I had no option to reject his offer.
In such situations, there should be an option for the seller to choose whether to take the project or not. Because nobody wants a negative review for some skills which they don't have.

I've had the *exact* same problem!
It was even for the similar reasons—I couldn't do a great job, so I couldn't do the job.
Unlike you, I actually received feedback *despite* never doing the job... That's how broken the system is.
As I've explained to PPH, in the real world a person replies to a job posting (on PPH this is replaced with sending a proposal), has an interview (discuss the job in the workstream), the "employer" offers the job (accepts the seller's proposal), and the applicant accepts or doesn't accept the offer.
On PPH this last part is missing and what they've told me is including it in the past has resulted in sellers forgetting to accept the job and working without a "contract"—that's a problem I accept can happen.
Here are two suggested simple solutions:
* Keep the existing proposal process, but allow the seller to withdraw his/her proposal, forfeiting the deposit and any other payments. (Presently I think all a seller can do is request the deposit be refunded, and the seller can be penalised for it in the form of a lowered CERT score.)
* Until the job has been accepted, add text in the message box saying something like, "WARNING! You have not accepted the Job Offer. Do not begin work until you have done so."

I agree, this is completely ridiculous, the same thing happened to me. This will, understandably, seriously affect the freelancer's credibility in the future potentional customers' view. This should be added immediately, as based on this I am seriously considering leaving this platform although I have just started. I am sure many other freelancers feel the same way

Hi Anjan and all,
first of all let me say that I get your concern. In such cases, you could always have a refund requested from the buyer by stating the "Other" as a refund reason - in this way you will not be penalized.
In any case, I'll make sure to note down and evaluate your request.Regarding your comment that we are not updating our system, allow me to disagree; we are constantly updating our offerings at various levels. Sometimes these updates are targeting buyers, sometimes freelancers and sometimes both. Our backlog is full, however we are always trying to address issues that affect our users and/or introduce new functionalities to make our users' life easier.
As for the features that you say are lacking, your suggestions are more than welcome so keep them coming!
Thanks,
Haris

I want to add to the string because I have the exact same situation. The job posted was writing but it actually entails doing meta data and linking articles based on a very stringent set of guidelines. It requires doing SEO for the page that needs to be written which was not clearly stated in the original offer. The client did not make this clear and when I requested a meeting to clarify he just resent the links to the guidelines then he awarded me the job. I see that the most recent response if from 10 months ago and wondering if there is updated info on this.

In my case,
I was requiring a writer for some docs, I have received eight proposals in 48 hours. One of them had more than a hundred reviews on profile. I contacted him through inbox, he took more time to reply. When I accept his proposal, he was not able to do the job I was looking for.
I tried for him to understand what I want actually but failed. Some work he submitted and I said to him that "please don't include this in the proposal" because it is not fulfilling my requirements.
The next day he had included that in the proposal. Now I am trying to reject his proposal and want accept another, but no such option found.
