@nick I agree, some extra fee is ok if PPH used those extra fee funds for marketing and get more prospects. However still there has to be some relief as directly from 3.5 to 20% really puts a lot of pressure on work. We have to do more jobs to cover the fees. Can we not approach Xenios directly to get some relief for those who registered on this platform long ago and who are under the old fee structure. There has to be some way where we can bring some change.

@ everyone - my email jamiemckaye@gmail.com lets hear some ideas! Maybe a skype conference?

For 20% they should be:
1) dramatically increasing/improving their marketing to bring in more buyers
2) Increasing the minimum allowable price for all hourlies by 20% so we don't still have these $10 or $12 hourlies from low quality freelancers
3) Adding rules for removing low quality or spammy buyers and sellers
4) REMOVING the 10% fee for buyers completely

Cert 5 who now no longer uses the site, the original structure needs to be restored before I will consider taking on jobs here again.
Even from me PPH will be down in revenue, I imagine this is being replicated across other sellers.
PPH is the weakest of the platforms in my view for attracting well resourced projects, therefore the 20% lifetime is really just 20% and everyone knows that.
Definite vote for the original.

Hello All,I am Top Cert photo editor on pph.
We are working from 2014 and were happy till the Old Fees Structure.
Once the new structure is implement we are charged more and we are loosing business.
So I ask pph team to take note of same and get back the Old fees Structure.
Thanks,
Hung

Could not agree more about these fees. Some very good points here.
I've created a chat so we can bounce ideas off each other.

I specialise in social media so would be happy to help and do anything I can to either get the old fees back or equally build a mutual network where we can create a platform to help each other on a fair basis for both buyers and sellers.
Doesn't seem that much to ask for does it really?
Why are PPH doing this and risking everything. My hourlies have dropped by 80%, this isn't a small decrease this is dropping off a cliff type of stuff.

Also Top Cert, £112.2K+ and 8 years on the platform
We obviously prefer the old pay structure — I'm not sure who wouldn't, other than PPH themselves
We used to consider the fees a fair amount to pay for the exposure it gave us to the PPH marketplace but now we've been forced to reconsider this cost, we've realised that's not the best way to spend our marketing budget
24% fee (when you include VAT) is ridiculous and doesn't represent a good marketing ROI anymore when there are plenty of other off-platform channels that are more cost-effective
I'm sure we'll continue to use PPH but the damage has been done as you've opened our eyes to better alternatives

The worst part is, they pretended this was a good change for freelancers. They would be rolling in money this month, but I predict it will be short lived. Quality freelancers will be looking for other platforms.
Buyers aren't happy either. I have told a few about the price increase and they were angry about it. 30%+ fees when you combine buyer + seller is outrageous. It really is. We are putting in a lot of hard work for each job to be goughed 30%,
-
Does PPH actually ready this?
I haven't seen any comment back from them in regards to this or any indication that would be willing to put back the old fee structure.
As everyone else has said i vote for the old fee structure as i cant see this working out for customers, freelancers and eventually PPH as its not sustainable. I also did not receive an email and it seems like this was pushed through rather quietly.
If we all pass on the 20% fees to our customers they are likely to look at different platforms as PPH will become to expensive compared to the competition and we will all lose out.
BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL FEE SCHEME!

Hi Everyone
I have been using PPH as a seller since 2009 (apart from a couple of periods when I was doing some contracting)
My total billing is £295k
For the moment I have turned off most of my Hourlies and stopped bidding while I decide what to do.
My biggest problem with PPH was in fact 2 years ago. When they hired a data specialist and changed the ranking algorithm. I had been listed in the top 10 for 5 years and overnight dropped to around 600, at the time I had contact details for some of the management team and so had a couple of conference calls, nothing ever came of that so I stopped using PPH as my primary marketing activity. My monthly fees dropped by 50% due the the reduction in work through PPH.
I have a few long term clients that have spent more then £5k, they all complain about the 10% buyer fee
If the quality of the service was what it was in the past I would not be so annoyed about the increase in fees. However PPH is not the same quality service that it was in the past, most buyers are only after a one off quick job at very low rates.
One thing that especially annoyed me was I had a job that started in May that I invoiced last week, I was charged the new fees. I opened a support request and was told...
...all of our users have been notified for this change in June, giving them plenty time to amend any proposals already sent. Unfortunately, at this point, I hope you can understand that we are not able to take further actions.
Doing some research I have seen that Upwork have the same fee structure for Sellers since 2016 https://www.upwork.com/blog/2016/05/upwork-pricing/ However, Upwork don't charge buyers 10% its 2.75% for payment processing.
I think it very unlikely that PPH are going to reverse this change and will have completed financial modelling etc.
If there are any related sellers who would be interested in creating a virtual agency - that could be something worth investigating.
-
@nick - there's a few of us planning a Skype chat already - all like minded - maybe this fits in with that?
Cheers!

Clear enough PPH? After ten years I too am ready to throw in the towel, no small undertaking if you conisder all the feedback gained over that period of time. But I feel now that this is a very unfair commission system that no-one will be able to make a reasonable living out of, and this thread makes it very clear what people think. CHANGE IT BACK before all your loyal freelancers are forced to go elsewhere.
