PPH algorithms for newcomers
I just wanted to ask the community how do you guys start here?
I just receive a response from a bug that I reported, that says that the algorithm is dictating everything and is not a bug. So for a newcomer like me, that is struggling to get a project or 2 (to meet PPH requirements), how is that benefiting me?
I feel like you want to be successful here, you have to pay. I understand maybe that is no the situation for most of you out there but that is what I feel. I fell like between project getting canceled, people only going for the freelancers who have great reviews and are recommended by the site, is almost impossible to land 1 project.
As a newcomer, you have to get yourself out there and bid on as many projects as you can, but you really can do that? In order to do that, I posted 2 offers, maybe by people searching what they need I have a bigger chance of getting a view or something, but I actually don't know the only view I got is from me sending it to my friends. Now comes again the big question do I have to pay so people can see me?

I am experiencing a very similar situation and it is quite frustrating actually. The algorithm would never recommend newcomers as we don't have reviews or endorsements, if you want to go ahead then you have to pay for a feature proposal even then you are not recommended by the algorithm and the buyers are naturally going to select the recommended ones. I honestly feel like it was bad idea to come here!

I've come to the conclusion they are no interested in making our life easier, the bottom line is that they make what they make from the projects that go through and squeeze an extra from our necessity to make money. Even if you are the best at your trade, you'll still struggle because here quality it doesn't matter.
I feel sorry for this community because is not a way of growing especially when a few days ago they announced that they had like over 2x the sign up from the last year.
