But i did all the hard work....
I recently sold a one hour consultation to a customer. We negotiated and agreed on a price for the hour and outlined what they needed and what i would provide.
The work was to help them setup an account on a specific platform and then advise and give tips on how to better complete the profile aswell as on how to best use the platform (as a beginner) to help their business gro an dget engagements.
While in discussion they said "This was good" and they managed to follow the steps I gave and it helped them.
Now after they got what they wanted, she then said ok close the order. I sent the invoice which they then rejected. They said that they could have done it all themselves using online tutorials and google. But you can say that with most hourlies..... Instead of paying someone to make a logo I can watch a good few photoshop tutorials and design my own. Instead of hiring a digital marketer i can watch facebook tutorial videos and do it myself right?
She said "That's fine. Bill be for $15USD. That's fair. That covers your 1 hour work. Remember - it was me doing all the work. Few advice tips here and there does not make this terribly insightful. Read the exchange. Would you pay $50USD for that? No. It fell ridiculously short of expectations. Way. Now, I'm fine to compensate you for the hour work. That's the $15USD that I'm offering to pay....."
I am sure that is not how business or PPh works.
if I did not do what I said then fine. But I did, i offered one hour time consultation in that time she could and did ask anything she needed to achieve what she wanted. And from what she said she did manage to achieve it.
If you hired a personal trainer for 10 hours you could not claim all the money back by saying 'Well i did all the hard work' could you, because youre paying them for their time, support and guidance...
