No chance if you don't live in UK, USA or other English speaking countries.
I'm relatively new to this platform. I love it! however...
I speak native English, but live in the Netherlands.
I have the right education, the right experience, skills, motivation letter and portfolio to show. Still it seems all the projects I reply to decline my offer. Mainly because I'm from the Netherlands. I think they assume I don't speak English. From the 40 projects or so, I got only one and that was someone from mainland Europe. 98% of the projects are from an English speaking country.
I think countries should not be mentioned as this is a real disadvantage for people outside those countries. However a language assessment should be part of the equation.

I don't think it has anything to do with you coming from mainland Europe - the platform is really crowded at the moment and some jobs will have over 50 or so applicants (most will be from poor third world countries where they speak broken English) offering the world at a vastly reduced price.
Countries have a massive importance to buyers due to time zones plus the language tests will just be abused and cheated (like other PeoplePerHour tests on youtube.
At the end of the day the client can choose who they want but that is the world of freelancing. I'm certain if you have a good portfolio and a good build-up of reviews you will ace it. As a TopSeller it took months to establish myself and with covid19 I can only imagine it will take longer for new people on the site. Just don't undersell your work and make each approach unique.

I hope what you're saying is true. So far I have only gotten word back from buyers on mainland. If you yourself live in UK or USA, or even Australia, you can't really imagine how it's like.
And of course things are more difficult with covid-19 at this moment...I mean EVERYTHING is more difficult.
I will keep improving and building up..never give up! Thanks for the tips.
