Payment to a freelancer

Hello, I just paid a freelancer £15 for a small translation. Initially, however, before the work had even begun, I had to put the money "in escrow" which showed later on in the project details, so I thought that would be released automatically. I remember entering my bank details initially as well. But then the freelancer invoiced me today and it was for the right amount, so since I saw that, I clicked "Release" and it took me to a page to enter my bank details again. Perhaps I hadn't saved them the first time? I was under the impression the money in escrow, i.e. the deposit I had been asked to pay initially, would have simply gone through automatically after I clicked release. So now it kind of feels like I paid twice? Can anyone help me with this please? Thank you.
