Profile banners and portfolio images look awful on desktop

Since the change to profile pages, the banners and thumbnails for portfolio images are zoomed in and look terrible on desktop.

Thought it would have been fixed by now but apparently not? How did this make it past testing?

  My profile banner (cover photo) is partially hidden under the ribbon menu of PPH. I guess everyone has this problem now. That sucks big time. I had to pay for my cover photo to be created and now it doesn't fit anymore and I have to pay for a remake. Horrible!
