Huge one day spike in my profile views - why?

Hi

On the 6th March 2019, my profile views graph (which is normally about 10-15 a day) showed a massive spike resulting in 249 views. This seems too many to be simply a good day and did not result in any change in my normal sales, so what happened? I have had an online chat with PPH but they gave no reason for the one day increase and could not give me a geographical breakdown of where the views came from.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Has this happened to anyone else?

happened to me too, unsure why. I ensure there must have been an issue. I was not advertised on the social media channel so i can only assume it is incorrect.

Happened to me too. Over 300 views on a single day, and I normally average 8-12. I hope there's no connection with a) the staggering increase of not just fake jobs, but malicious fake jobs with malware attached, or b) the number of hacked/sold freelancer profiles at CERT4 or CERT5 level who are sending all kinds of strange messages.

PPH Ninjas: you're no doubt hovering. To save time, rather than asking more about this, please go back through the numerous flags I've sent (and which to the best of my knowledge you haven't acted upon) which will give you concrete examples.

Yes, I too was wondering if there was a connection with all the dodgy fake and malware jobs doing the rounds at the moment. Or was it a DDOS attack? I really would welcome some feedback from PPH on this.

It's a serious problem at present. Asking new buyer accounts to pre-fund their first job would stamp out the malware/fake jobs issue entirely, yet when I suggested this to PPH it was dismissed as being offputting to new clients.

A DDOS attack hadn't occurred to me; since that's the logical next step on from malware/account hacking, I suspect you're right.

PPH? Your freelancers actually want to help here. Please listen to us.

I was really wondering about it too! Check out my double-spike and no profile visits in the single day between.

Before there was the ability to check the number of views on your Hourlies (now called Offers), however PPH decided to remove that widget from the dashboard for some unknown reason. It was a really bad decision for sellers as they can no longer follow how good their Hourlies preform over time (viewing-wise). If you could tell how many views your Hourlies are getting, at least you could have attested if there's any correlation between the spike in profile views and Hourlie views (raising one more reason for concern if there's no correlation at all).

Is anyone available from PPH to comment on the various points raised above?

Would be really good if someone from PPH could respond to this!

Is anyone at PPH reading these posts? It would be really good to hear from someone!

Happened to me too, had like 480 views in one single day last month in comparison to the regular 30-50, seemed highly suspicious.
