How can I download an Illustrator file that a seller has sent me?

It downloads as a PDF on my Mac.

  Hello Jo, 

  Illustrator is part of the Adobe Suite program and you will need to have this installed under your MAC. The illustrator formats only open in AI and if the program itself is not available under your computer I am afraid you won't be able to open it.
