More scam alert - deel.com
Okay, so after being on here a couple of weeks and just reading a few community posts today, it's apparent that this place is just totally full of scammers. I myself have been slightly the victim of one this week. I was contacted by somebody called "Ben H" about a project of his, I had bid on, on here. He asked me to message him on the app "telegram", where he then told me he works as a recruiter for deel.com.
He said I would be emailed a contract to sign first and then when I have received it back I would be sent the project. I was immediately suspicious but as I've been on here a couple of weeks and not managed to get any work yet I thought what the hell I might as well take a look.
The job was only about 6 hours worth of work, so I did it anyway, late that evening and wanted to make a good impression incase it was real and could have follow up work, so I actually spent about 8 1/2 hours doing it, working into the early hours.
I emailed the finished work to them and asked them about payment details, as we were outside of PPH now. I was then sent a grammatically badly written email, full of spelling mistakes with words missing, detailing how I was supposedly to open an account with their payment system "SAFEPAYNET+ ". This required me to send in 2 passport photographs from different angles and a "Human Verification Deposit" deposit of $200! Suspicions of scam obviously well and truly confirmed by now and a harsh lesson learnt!.
Other telltale signs of scam - email address was a a gmail one, disguised as deel.com. Having looked back, the guys name was Ben H on PPH, but when he messaged me on Telegram it was Ben Gerald. His account has also been deleted on PPH.
Don't I feel like the f*****g idiot!
Arseholes.

Note to everyone - Be very, very careful working with anyone with 0 reviews. There's always something in the job description which is a red flag. This one was using Telegram. I've had three of these contacts this week - I have refused to play ball. If they have any information to impart on the job tell them to communicate via PPH only. Guaranteed you won't hear from them again.
BUT
PPH, you're at fault here. You should be moderating projects and picking up on the fact that new buyers are asking sellers to communicate using Telegram.

Hi Nancy - as soon as he asked to communicate away from PPH it set alarm bells ringing and I felt deep down it was a scam. However, as I had no other work on currently, I knew that I was only losing some time and not any money as such. Guaranteed I won't be doing it again though! I have received another one since, asking to be contacted via Telegram.
PS - I have 0 reviews but am DEFINITELY not a scammer!

PPH IS FULL OF SCAMMERS!!
I like Steve had the same experience. I was contacted to get in touch through WhatsApp first, then telegram. I was offered a contract (very good offer) arguing that they had been recently hacked the payment platform was on hold, but what seemed weird was that they wanted me to clear out my tax fee first in order to get paid ($100). When I searched up the document I was to translate and found it available in 3 languages already on the internet I was twice confirmed it was a scam!!
THEN A 2ND SCAM!! you would think I had learned my lesson by now. I was contacted by STADA group, I looked up the company it seemed very legit it had reviews and everything. Was instructed to do a message skype meeting, which I literally did an interview for like almost 2 days. Was offered a job position with great pay and benefits. They had to trust me to send funds to purchase my equipment to work from home which included a macbook mini laptop, shredder and a print scanner which I was suppose to buy from an exclusive authorized distributor (that was my first flag). Then they said their system was down and could not mail me the check so they would email it to me with instructions to do mobile deposit only (through skype of course, RED FLAG 1) when I get the image I noticed the issuer was not STADA or its affiliate (RED FLAG 2) the company name and address was not matching any google address and when I asked about it they got very defensive (RED FLAG 3!!). By now, they had already gotten all my personal INFO, all of it!! I AM SOOO FRUSTRATED WITH ALL THIS!!
Needless to say, I am done bidding on PPH. Stay away from this platform, don't trust anyone!!

Sorry to hear that Monica. Yes it's a pretty depressing environment this online freelancing is. PPH seems to be the worst out of the 3 sites I've used - (PPH, Freelancer and UpWork). Upwork appears to be the best but I've only won one project so far in nearly 3 weeks and putting in almost 60 bids between the 3 sites. Then I turned that project down because they moved the goal posts and it worked out that I would've earned about 1/4 of the UK minimum wage!
Everybody seems to want the work doing for almost next to nothing. If not then they tend to be scammers :-( -
Hi! thanks I found a community and forums just like this, since i can be related much about what have been Steve said regarding his Experiences being a freelancer. i was in the same situation LOL but i just realize it later on. when they have reach me out through email, saying they are about to sent payment after i have completed the project. but this is exactly what the content of their email; "The purpose of this email is to inform you that we have attempted to process your payment into your preferred payment account (BTC address : 3QMA5eSJa94ffVD7diZugMBUPfUYnsD2qD) using our company's corporate payment system (SECUREPAYNET+). We have created an account for you on the platform but will need to verify the account and also link your preferred payment account to the SECUREPAYNET+ system.
Due to your account not being verified and your preferred payment account not being linked to the SECUREPAYNET+ system your payment can not be processed completely and instead has been put in a pending state and will be processed again after successfully verifying your account and linking your preferred payment account to the SECUREPAYNET+ system.
Here are the requirements to verify your SAFEPAYNET+ account and to link your payment account to the SECUREPAYNET+ system.1. Submit a clear passport size photograph (2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm), Head must be between 1 -1 3/8 inches (25 - 35 mm) from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head.)
2. A government issued Identification
3. Proof of address
4. A Human verification deposit of $250 to link your account (for fraud and money laundering prevention).Important Note: The Human verification deposit is a compulsory one-time deposit that must be made from your preferred payment account and will be refunded to your preferred payment account along with your payment once the verification and linking process is complete. Thanks for understanding,
For more information or to link your account to the SECUREPAYNET+ system, send us a reply to this email.but I have realized this is not the way of a legitimate business. because transferring funds is not complicated just like that. so i think and started doubting, until I begun make a research about this issue, then so blessed I found this very informative comments of you guys and gives me more believe that there is someone using deel.com personnel trying to scam me. the good thing was I don't have money that time hehe! so, I did not make a wrong moves. i don't realy understand why do I have to make a payment deposit just to get my salary.. its really annoying part.
