notifications showing up again and making sounds that are old and already dealt with

I have multiple times now, when messages such as "feedback is still needing to be left" or "a proposal is waiting for you" which are approximately one day old, and have definitely 100% been finished/read/done with, but yet a message/notification pops up a day after saying it needs to be done? You click on it and it just takes you to see what you already knew - it's been done. 

So there is something wrong with how it checks for reminders. Please fix it, because the extra unnecessary attention-grabbing it does just causes clutter.
