Old Seller's Service Fee
Hello Freelancers,
I would like to bring your attention to one of the PeoplePerHour policy.
Policy —
"Starting on May 1st, 2017, if a Seller's billing within a calendar month is less than £50 | €60 | $65, then starting from the next month onwards, the Seller will be charged the Service Fee of a 5% (excl. VAT) on all work billed (earnings), above the first £500 | €600 | $650 earned in the month which has a 20% (excl. VAT) Service Fee, independent of the Seller's date of registration."
I am over 5 years old member and working continuously at PPH. Now I am excluded from old member benefits (15% service fee changed to 20%) only based of one month billing. I think many freelancers affected by this and will be affected by this policy.
I am very disappointed with this policy and it discouraged me so much.
My point is, if a seller member of PPH who has been working regularly and with loyalty for more than 5 years, suddenly exclude from the old member benefits only based on one month billing. Anything can be happened to the people for one month.
It is very harsh to the members who affected from this. So I think, it should be 6 months to exclude if a member is not active, not logged in, not working or failed to bill £50 in a calendar month for 6 months. And at least 3 reminders should be posted as email about this policy because many freelancers don’t know about this policy.
I am proposing 6 months because there is no come back policy from the company if a member is excluded from the old member benefits and is treated as new member.
OR PPH can calculate the average of 6 month billing, if a seller does not able to bill on average £50 per month. Then this policy can be applied but one month is very harsh.
OR There should be comeback policy for old members on the basis of billing amount for 3 months or 6 months.
Many Thanks,
Vivek

I really agree with Vivek! I am in the same position, seller with 100% positive and 5 star rating in Level 5.
I couldn't work on the platform for a while and now I came back and I discovered the fees are so HIGHER 20% on the first £500 (before were 15% on the first £175). This change is ridiculous and this is the real umpteenth evidence that PPH doesn't care of the sellers.I have wrote to their customer support and they suggest me to write on the forum.
I have never found the attitude to meet the sellers’ needs, specially to those who are doing a great work on the platform with their customers.
I am here as I have my customers and potential customers but I am really disappointed!
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH VIVEK'S FIRST SUGGESTION!
PLEASE DON'T IGNORE THIS PROPOSAL!!! -
Hi,
I totally agree with all of you. I am in the same condition. I was also suggested to write here, as Silvia says.
Like you, I work also locally for other people. But Peopleperhour was always a great help for me in all of these years, to have new possibilities with new clients and to do the best of my work.
Since feedbacks are always important, I never made a bad work. I always aimed to do the best.
However since this platform is very competitive, I never had very high payment. They reached the limit of my work per hour, sometimes it was also less.
Now, with these new fees, it has become impossible for me to have a valid return.
I also have to declare every gain of PPH to my local authorities, so it will become less then ever.Virginia

Agree completely with the above comments.
Increasing the fee to 20% due to just one month without earnings is a huge penalty for loyal users of the site.
The very nature of freelancing means monthly earnings can be erratic, and come from a number of different sources, for most people. It's tricky enough as it is to work in this arena without being financially penalised by going on holiday, working elsewhere, being ill etc.
A site set up specifically for freelancers should be supportive and empathetic to their clientele and be working with them to enable this way of working – not making it increasingly unsustainable to work via the site.
I would urge PPH to reconsider the fee structure and create a fairer system that keeps quality sellers (and buyers) using it.
