BUYER FEES
I have discovered that you have taken money from me that I did not specifically authorise - I am in receipt of an invoice entitled "Buyer Fees for Deposit to Unassigned Funds"
Please explain when I committed to pay this?

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your message, if you check point 8. Buyer Fees on the link below you will see what you agreed to when you signed up to PPH.

Note - those terms are dated March 2nd 2018 so it's fairly likely that nobody on this thread signed-up to them
Also, when I last checked, the Ts & Cs comprised over 10,000 words so it's very unlikely that anybody read them.
An earlier revision dropped the free option of payment by bank transfer. -
I agree with the above. I never knew that I have to pay 10% extra as fees. If there is such a fee it should be clearly added to the total of the job before accepting.
I am seriously considering to stop using PPH. They have a number of short comings and this is the deal breaker for me.

I see that my comment (below) made on this post 6 days ago is still 'pending approval'.
It seems that stifling discussion is more-important than addressing very real issues.

I looked at Upwork on your recommendation and they do look generally more-professional.
I notice that their fees, to both buyers and sellers, are more-modest and fully-disclosed as far as I can see. They do have a better thought-out policy should the client choose to work directly with the seller.
Firstly, there is a limit to the period in which such an arrangement is barred though, in my experience, an 'unlimited' period is unlikely to be enforceable.,
They are also happy to countenance direct working in return for a reasonable fee.
Ironically, lower fees and efficient support makes it less-likely that anybody would want to cut-out-the-middle-man.
Payment arrangements also seem clearer.I will give them a try as there seems to be less relevant work coming through on PPH.

Yes, this new tax is quite greedy considering PPH take a large chunk already from the suppliers. Its a shame because I thought the system was fairly good but they can't seem to justify taking almost a third for their system. That's even more than Uber and cannot motivate the hard pressed suppliers who deserve better.
Their silence speaks volumes! Looking at Upwork

Very true Adam
And I have noticed the consequences in terms of relevant new business coming in - there is now very little of relevance to me on PPH whereas, at the beginning of the year, I was winning a new client every week or so.
I have now completed a couple of jobs with Upwork and it all seems generally more-professional.They don't have as much UK work as PPH used to provide but then nor do PPH.

You'll be lucky David - dozens of complaints abut this have fallen on 'deaf ears' and many buyers have responded by refusing to use PPH again.
I know, I am a seller and 'feeling the pain.'
A pity somebody doesn't take some sort of legal action over this, though the sums involved are probably too small.
Apart from the fact that the User Guide still states that they don't charge fees to buyers, they would appear to be in breach of recent legislation by charging for the use of Credit Cards. -
Hi
Just noticed this too. I have used PPH before and i'm disappointed with the new fee structure. I think it is worth pointing two facts:
- surcharges for electronic or card payments are illegal since february this year (https://www.businesscompanion.info/en/quick-guides/pricing-and-payment/payment-surcharges)
- hidding fees in the terms and condition is in violation with the Consumer Right Act, revision 2015 (https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act under unfair contract terms).
this is just not acceptable. They must refund us all, or we should contact trading standards.
