Essential information not being given to sellers
I emailed PPH about this over 6 months ago and still nothing has been done. I notice that in this part of the support forum, this post appears many times and rather than just comment on others I've made my own to show the severity of this problem and also the simplicity of how it can be fixed.
This is a job post I saw two days ago;
'For a wedding - not edited raw photos required'
That's it. No location, no time-frame, no budget, no examples, nothing. Sellers on here like myself do not want to waste our time asking the buyer to give information that somehow isn't common sense to them that absolutely should've been included in the original post. We also do not have time to wait and check to see if they even respond to questions about this essential information. Not only do we not have time to ask, I myself instantly lose respect for the buyer as they clearly have no respect for the designers and therefore the job goes to people who can seemingly bid blindly on this having no idea what they're bidding on.
It is a simple fix, full stop, that should not have taken this long to implement. A simple web-form asking the buyer to give a complete description; a box for location, a box for budget, a box for time-frame and a box for example files etc. Please, have some respect for the designers who use this site regularly and implement this now. I am shocked that this is continuing, even after my own personal request over 6 months ago. I have had several problems as a seller with PPH and have been stigmatised in situations where PPH has sided with the buyer, much to my detriment so please, start showing us sellers the respect we deserve and do something about this. We make this site for you, so start helping us.
Thank you,
Nick

Hi Nick,
I understand how frustrated you must be having been told some time ago this was being looked at.
I am aware that there are details being put into place for ads to have more information in them, however I'm afraid I cant tell you when this would actually go live as its still in the design phase.At the moment the only help to sellers such as yourself is that we have the 'remote' function which helps you select buyers who are only looking for remote workers only, and then the function whereby you can select an on-site job near you. I can understand this doesn't help fully if the job description still doesn't give enough information.
I know that this has been passed to our product development team. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

this is problem for practically every job that I get sent through. I read it through and either have to waste time asking them where they are or waste even more time applying and finding they are on the other side of the world.. It's such a simple thing to ask them to state their location I've no idea why it can't be implemented quickly.

Kelly, I appreciate your response but what you're effectively asking me to do is to limit myself to jobs that are remote only. There are plenty of on-location jobs available on PPH, especially in and around London so why would I remove the possibility of searching for these jobs? If they haven't put their location, how can I find it through this? You claim that this 'helps' buyers, but this is clearly not helpful at all, you're asking me to limit my work possibilities. Please stop making excuses for this and trying to skirt over the issue and just make this incredibly simple fix. I am honestly flabbergasted that this is taking so long. I'm sure there are plenty of designers here who could do this in a day and yet 6 months down the line nothing has been done. Why don't you do a competition where you award the best design to a seller on here and implement it straight away? You're making enough money from this site, so cough up and make this fix before you lose designers to much more efficient similar websites.

I have to agree with the sentiment expressed here by frustrated creatives.
This is not just a whinge about a lack of really basic information its a critical success factor affecting the ROI and profit for PPH!!
If you want creatives to be able to bid for work then we have to have a minimal understanding of what we are bidding on. If this is not changed soon then your reputation as a site will be impacted where creatives do not bid anymore or drop out when they discover its impractical to deliver.
I suggest you get an Agile team with a good Scrum master to fix this ASAP as its been a problem since I joined and I find myself looking more at Soply these days than PPH as it has more information.
