Is VAT claimable

Hello,

I am a seller and want to raise an invoice to the buyer for £38 job post so do I need to charge VAT extra or does it included in cost because a buyer has already deposit £38 to escrow?

 

How can we claim this VAT in UK?

Is adding VAT is required if we have VAT number?

 

Please help us in this as we are generating invoice first time.

  Hi Ficode,

  Did your original £38 not include VAT? You should have discussed this with your buyer at the time. If not then confirm with the buyer what they are happy to do. If they are not happy to add the 20% (£7.60) on top then you may need to take the hit yourself.

  You will need a VAT number and to include this on the platform for invoicing purposes.
