Excellent idea - some proposals I've had are from people who obviously aren't serious about using this platform to do business and just time wasters

I'd like to be able to selectively block providers...usually can figure out in just a few messages that they are bottom feeders just trolling for ignorant buyers.

Yes please. I mostly want to block people from showing up: no invitations or proposals, no notifications of their jobs, a block on asking questions on jobs I put up.

    Its really an anti-spam measure.

Yes, great idea.  For three days now I've had one of PPH's service providers messaging me daily through PPH because he thinks that the suggested price that I offered for a job was too low.  Abusive, obnoxious, unnecessary.  This sort of person should be banned from PPH but behing able to block the abuse would be good too

Its very interesting that the problem exist with both suppliers and buyers. The problems with buyers are those who will never buy (there are nots of jobs that are never awarded) and those who have unrealistic budgets.

I have got yet another invitation from the buy I refered to above even though I told him his budget was an order of magnitude below what I would charge for the job

I want to add my voice to the choir, doesn't matter what  you write and how precise you are as a buyer or seller, people always will comment like this was facebook or twitter and not a serious job website, and some people (mr Parthiban that's for you!!) answer EVERY job offer (I found this guy in almost every job I applied for as a freelancer, and two of the jobs I ask as a buyer, and when I had a bit of communication with him he barely understand english and my questions and his expertise on the topics are ridicolous!

ADD THE BLOCK FEATURE FOR BUYERS (AND SELLERS WHY NOT?) FREEDOM TO BUY-SELL  only to who we really want and not spammers that just click click hoping that someone will choose them because they are cheaper.

This would be a great feature because i have calculated that my time loss and money is huge since the fact there are lot's of buyers who just post a project and never get back or even close the project... It would be useful to block these kind of users from the seller stand point...

@Kostantinos - Part of the problem is the design of the site. I'll wager that many sellers have never figured out that PPH's forced job posting wastes not just their time but buyers time as well. There is no reason other than creating unneeded time wasting "fluff" by making me post a job just to communicate with a member.

The site is confusing and not very intuitive.

@Neal - i understand that the time is a problem but what shall i do with about 10 featured proposals that i had to pay for and the client does not reply at all ? Only if the buyer cancels the job we get back the credit but when the buyer does not respond at all... That's a most often case that i have...

PPH has to find at least a solution for this because it's a waste of featured credits if the buyer is not serious. Something has to change in the process or the buyers have to start paying for the proposals.

Blocking sellers from appearing in lists of "suggested" Suppliers, and Hourlies would be good,

Blocking them from responding to proposals and mailing you would be equally good.

It's not always that they are rubbish or abusive, but that you've messaged with them and don't like their style of output or doing business.

It would make the platform more in tune with your own personal way of working.

Equally it would be good to see your favourites sort to the top, in case you've previously give them a favourite and now they come straight to the top if the search matches their skills.

Keep up the good work and keep developing the platform.

Yes, please enable us to block a user from contacting us or ordering from us.  I waste a lot of time answering numerous messages from other users wanting endless free information who clearly have no intention of ever buying. I have also had instances where I have informed a buyer I cannot help them because  their requirements do not fit into the scope of the Hourlie, only to have them go ahead and order anyway!

I urgently need to block some users from seeing my activity.

My website was hacked by a disgruntled developer I fired. He is upset that I am not using him any longer. He saw that I hired PPH to fix his errors and began hacking my site. I need to block this guy so that he does not see me or my activity. I don't want him to see the people I hire either.  Otherwise the next option is to open a new account on here to avoid him, but then I lose my rating - or to go somewhere else. ;-(

Blossom, I really don't like the way you are going about this. This guy has a great record here on PPH and if you have an issue with him you should discuss it with support@peopleperhour.com .

The only thing I am going to beware of is you as a buyer.

I would like to block someone who is trying to poach work without going through the normal PPH channels. He just messages people under the guise of buying an hourly and says he'll do their work for a (quite high) fee. I responded and said I'd proof read his work for an equally exorbitant fee but the idiot didn't get the implicit message and now keeps attempting to video call me.

This site is becoming a haven for stalkers and harassers.

I've come across only one client I'd like to block. He always asks for 2-3 more things than my hourlie desrcribes, always wants to talk down price, always wants the work done immediately.

I have a feeling he will ruin my rating if he doesn't get what he wants. An absolute nightmare.

People like that will return time and time again if their tactic works. Be firm. Don't worry about the rating - complain to PPH if there's an issue - have plenty of evidence in the workstream.

For example, at the very outset, restate exactly what you will be doing as part of the hourly and state that anything besides that will be a paid extra by mutual agreement. If you state everything and lock it down, they won't be able to take advantage.

We need to be able to block clients that are making indecent proposals. Other freelance sites offer it too. Thanks for implementing it as soon as posible. Thank you

Michaela, if any PPH user is making indecent proposals, report them immediately to PPH customer service.

One of the clients who I wanted to block order 4 more hourlies off me.  She was far too demanding, asked for much more than the hourlie provided.  I told her I didn't want to work with her, she insisted that she wanted to.

I completed 2 of the 4, she asked for changes on the first two.  I said I can't do the remaining two, "you are asking too much".  PPH gave her a 100% refund.  I received 0%.  I spent over 5 hours and was paid NOTHING.

    It is disgraceful PPH.

    Paul, that's awful.

If she ordered four hourlies and two were completed, I would expect payment for those two. They aren't the same as doing half a job.

I would have kept at it and maybe taken the PPH to the small claims court.

Five hours lost work because of a client? I encounter that regularly.

Shanta, I don't think you can block people.

    Report them to support@peopleperhour.com

So I’ve realized that this support area is not support at all but more a community to share grievances with another members and be ignored. Good to know what kind of company PPH is.
