CRM style notes
It would be really helpful to allow for personal notes against sellers/freelancers. I don't just want to heart people I have had positive experiences with, it would be very helpful to be able to see notes regarding previous dialogue.

Something along the lines of the red box in this picture. A place where hirers and freelancers can record any interactions with each other, even if they don't do business together at that time.
I know for me there have been times that I've cancelled proposals where the freelancer or hirer has ended up attempting to impose onerous constraints on the work etc and it would be nice to have a record of this on PPH to avoid them in the future; or, indeed work with someone who I would like to work with in the future but just wasn't successful at that time. -
So you want to be able to create a private list on the PPH platform of people you've interacted with, as well as notes on each interaction?
I'm curious about this part:
"I know for me there have been times that I've cancelled proposals where the freelancer or hirer has ended up attempting to impose onerous constraints on the work etc"
If I can go off-topic for a moment, what's your opinion on the proposal cancellation process?
I was recently in a similar situation as a seller—basically the buyer accepted my proposal, made a deposit, *then* proceeded to ignore my proposal, asked me to perform tasks I didn't agree to, etc.
I found it an unnecessary hassle to have to ask PPH to issue a refund because the way PPH's proposal system works is as soon as the buyer accepts the proposal, the job officially begins.
i.e. As a seller I have no say over whether or not I accept the job, and if I don't for any number of reasons (e.g. buyer is ignoring my proposal) then my only option is to issue a refund, which can negatively affect my rating.

Exactly, I do try to keep a separate database but with the way PPH displays names as simply "First Name Initial of Surname" it makes it difficult to navigate.
Now in regard to the proposal process, I'm have mixed opinions. Personally I think it should be overhauled so that sellers can give a deadline on proposal acceptance. I also feel there should be an interim step to show agreement by both the buyer and seller that they are happy with the proposal. I'm not sure how peopleperhour could ever objectively measure whether a job is as described or not, especially given how wide and varied the different jobs are on here.
Perhaps something similar to Freelancer's milestones? The buyer could provide specific tasks which the seller would then cost and agree.
Some of it though has to be down to how the proposal is written. I've learned through bitter experience to add things such as "from safe receipt of files" having had buyers start the clock ticking as they start uploading the files to the cloud which may take them several hours.
Onto the part about refunds, I do think that there should be an option to prove why you issued the refund - i.e. the job was significantly not as described, but then would everyone choose that option because it meant they didn't suffer. It's a balance, but I do agree that part of the process is definitely weighted towards buyers not sellers. -
I've been looking for something similar and haven't been able to come up with a viable solution. To back up my contacts and merge my work and Gmail contacts, I use FullContact. However, I haven't discovered a suitable way to track follow-up activities or keep track of people's notes. I also tried freshworks CRM integrations. Ryze appears to have a lot of potential. It appears to be the newest and most up-to-date iOS app under development. Monica is definitely out because I believe it needs to be an iOS app for me, but I prefer the web interface. So I'm going to give Ryze a shot. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
