Currency conversion on credit card payment

I have a fee of $30 to pay but I will be paying using a UK-based credit card. 

Do you

1. charge $30 against the credit card (in which case my credit card will charge me a conversion fee into £) or

2. convert the $30 to £ using your exchange rate first before then charging the credit card?
