I have paid twice for the same job

I paid an invoice as soon as it was due and another invoice popped up for the same job so I paid it again not realising the money had already left my account so now I have paid twice for a blog post 

 

the agreed amount was £20 and now I have paid £40

 

How do I get a refund! why was I invoiced twice? what should I do so this doesn't happen again?
