Payment discrepancies
Hi I was wondering why if the fee for a job under first £500 is 20% why is routinely around 24% being taken, I've worked out the Paypal percentages and have jobs done outside PPH which are paid into Paypal for comparison. For example a job I did recently was $50, now 20% of 50 is of course 10, it's very basic maths, now the Paypal fee for that would be with conversion from dollars around 38p, now taking $14 as your starting point as the fee which has been taken even at the dollar rate it would only account for 76 cents, so an extra $3.24 has been taken by PPH. If this is a legitimate fee could you explain firstly, why it's been taken and what for then secondly, why it's not being included in the upfront figures. If I included this figure in my accounts and was unable to explain it to an accountant or the relevant tax bodies they would, rightly, want to know what was happening and was I hiding money. Please explain, in detail with a very good explanation and if fees or admin charges are being hidden, please put them on your site upfront instead. Most freelancers are honest with you, so please be honest with us.
