Is the search functionality really that basic?

It seems that the search does not include basic operators like "", logical and/or, etc. Especially, that I cannot enclose search terms consisting of multiple words in quotes makes it really hard for me to use the search and find the right postings. 

Additionally, when I use a search term with a dash, the dash is simply removed.

  There is nothing to chat about. The search function is simply no good currently. For instance, when I enter "linear programming" I get all postings with the term "programming", which is clearly not what I want.
