@Deb, **quantativing, **bet you can't say that after you've had a few..... :)

German news blogger, sorry don't know german.  Err...... hang on a bit.  Would sprechen sie deutsch do?

Oh, actually, just realised, no can do, not in my skillset, so would be blocked. :)

Today I was a perfect match for the job 'Fluent in Latvian, Estonian, or Lithuanian?' Erm, none of those actually. Sorry PPH.

I've also been selected to bid first for a fair few legal jobs because of my skills in 'legal'. Sorry PPH, wrong again. I've never had and never will have any skills in legal.

I don't think the skill set makes one bit of difference. Somehow the automated system PPH uses has gone so wrong that it's stopping people bidding for the right jobs and encouraging them to bid for the wrong ones. I often see web developers and programmers bidding on administration jobs. Which, yes they may be able to do but I doubt they've listed it in their skill set. So in theory shouldn't be able to bid

    Ok, this is bordering on moronic now. Get a load of this email I just got;

    Hey Deb,

Congratulations on your Hourlie's success, we see you've sold a few recently!

You have a special opportunity - web design is a popular search with 3586 searches per month, and there are less than 3 Featured Hourlies that match this search. So if you Feature now you'll definitely move to the top - a great chance for you to win sales!

A Why congratulate me then tell me I can do better?

B Web design? WTF? My hourlie, that sells so well but do better clearly, has sod all to do with web design so to tap into this wonderful opportunity I should really be advertising hourlies I can't actually do!!!

Roll on the 1st October when Cashfish launches under its new name of Maven Freelancing. Then I can say goodbye to shit like this.....

As Charlie said at the end of The Italian Job (for those who've seen the film, and with a little alteration), 'hang on lads and lasses, I've got an idea'.

We don't we all become multi-skilled?  In other words, if we all learn ALL of the skills on PPH, then we'll all get jobs that are relevant to us!  Ok, there might be a bit of extra competition, but a bit of competition is quite healthy.

    So, what ya reckon? :)

PPH won't let some people bid on jobs where they already have the skills.

I'd rather not learn all the skills to then be told by PPH that I still can't make a proposal..

.. I'd rather let that $10 job go to someone PPH thinks has the skills, but who actually has no clue.

Deb is too busy reading her textbooks on Quantitative research analysis to be learning new stuff right now.

Good idea Malcolm. So by this time tomorrow I expect you to be a quantative research analyst who is fluent in German and can programme a Raspberry Pi while creating a range of new silver toe rings, simples :)

@Deb - hahaha, you get top marks for that response :) (sorry I can't add them to your pph profile though :( )

@Paul - you don't get it, if we have ALL the skills listed in our profiles, the PPH issue you refer to should cease to exist!

Malcolm, the flaw in your masterplan is that PPH limits the number of skills you can have in your profile. I think that's correct.

I also think that people with the correct skills are still being held back in some circumstances.

    Ahhhh... in that case, b*ll*cks!!!

I also think that people with the correct skills are still being held back in some circumstances.

Really??  Care to elaborate on that one, if you can?  You trying to say that they're even more cunning and devious than I thought?

    Guys, guys, you're both missing the point. There are the skills we have listed in our profiles then the infinite number of secret skills we didn't even know we had but those clever ppl at PPH are clearly tapping into our psyche. Since my last post I have learnt a new one;

    Hey Deb,

You're one of the most qualified Sellers for the Job "Facebook Fan page Creation and content/management required" because of your skills in Facebook marketing *.

How cool am I? Am currently on one new skill per hour with no effort on my part whatsoever :)

haha, I would count yourself as being rather privileged then Debs, if I was you. :) (you must be being counted as special in pph's books then)

PPH has had a bit of a makeover and in typical PPH style it mostly works but has issues they should have picked up before making it live (some mouseover popups are cut off and mostly off-screen).

Either there's another fault or I've been silently banned from the clarification board. Could someone check out if the 'ask a question' button works for them?

Every time I leave a comment on these forums I get an error.

Lastly, notice how tiny the forum link button is now? Not by accident, I think..

I've just clicked on the ask a question button on a proposal form and nothing happened.

This is grim :( What were we just saying yesterday about it if ain't broken don't fix it? PPH have an uncanny knack of taking something that isn't broken, breaking it, and stick it back together with the bits in the wrong place.

I'd hate to jump the gun (maybe I should just stay quiet), but I've just realised that the job I've clicked into, the skills listed are definitely NOT in my skillsets (unless my skillsets have changed, which I haven't checked yet), and the proposal form ISNT locked.  Mmmm... know what I'm thinking?  Is it possible???

PPH has had huge amounts of money pumped into it and they come up with lunatic schemes such as skills matching yet they cannot get the very basics right when releasing new features - like testing it properly before releasing it.

Other companies would be promoting themselves and their new facelift before hand, but this is PPH and the twilight zone.

Absolute fucking joke this, Trying to send messages on ,my work streams to clients and am getting an error message and taken to the help desk, same when I tried to make a withdrawal. The 1st of October can't come quick enough for me like so I move over to Maven. They've been slammed for taking so long  in getting their site together but considering they are freelancers off here, and have seen everything that goes on here, can you blame them wanting to get everything right from the off?

App keeps crashing and the main site doesn't load properly on my mobile since the changes. Well done PPH!!

Just clicked into a job, where someone has asked a question about an hour ago and tried to click the ask question button, but still doesn't appear to do anything.  I'm using the latest version of Firefox and can't test using IE at the moment, so if one of you guys or gals DOES have IE, could you try that and see if it works?? (just wondering whether it depends on the browser used)

Can't mark a job as favourite. Tried to get to the support page from the new site and it didn't work.

@Fiona - try right clicking on the support page link and choose 'copy link location'.  Then open a separate tab in your browser and right-click in the web address box and choose paste, then hit the return/enter key.  If you can follow that, see if that works.

@Fiona - pleased to be able to help :) ( I'll send you the bill later, once I've found your details :)   )

About favouriting jobs, if you're aware of this then ignore, but there are two ways to favourite a job, either via the main list of jobs or in the job itself, so try both methods.

Tried it with the Opera browser.

'Ask a Question' now works. So FF is broken, but not all browsers. Opera isn't quite right, either.

The support link also works on Opera.
