Hourlies - Too much being taken?
Hi all,
Not sure if I am the only one having this problem, but I have been approached by a buyer on a couple of occasions to complete work for them.... The hourly I had was 10€, but then on the invoice I see that PPH are taking a 30% cut plus the tax of 21%, I thought the cut PPH was supposed to be taking 20%, and then 5% once a certain threshold was reached....
It seems a little steep that they are taking almost a 40% cut (with taxes included) and yet are useless when there are any disputes or problems....
Would love to hear some comments of other PPH users
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
There is a minimum charge on invoices. I don't know what it is in Euros but in GBP it is £2.50. That becomes a very high percentage charge on small invoices. The minimum still applies if you have earned over the threshold and are supposed to be on a 5% rate. That happened to me once when I took on a small job at the end of the month expecting a 5% charge, only to be hit by the minimum charge, which was a lot more than 5%.
If you are doing several small jobs for the same buyer it is better if you can get them charged on one invoice instead of a lot of little ones. -
The other option is to increase your own minimum charge. If they have a minimum of 3 Euros and a 20% fee you would need to be charging 15 Euros for your hourly to keep the fee down to 20%.
This is something I have raised with PPH that the minimum charge for an invoice should be matched to the minimum price for a project.
